Substance Abuse Treatment Programs in California
For most people, the first and most important step to recovery is acknowledging that they have a struggle with alcohol or drug use. The next step is looking for professional help to restore their health, well-being and overall happiness.
There are numerous substance abuse treatment options a person can choose from. For instance, those who have severe substance addiction can begin with detox programs before moving to rehab. Others may enter an inpatient or outpatient recovery center. After treatment, it’s recommended to get support to continue living a drug-free life by attending individual or group therapy sessions.
Addiction recovery isn’t easy and will take a lot of self-discipline and willpower to remain sober in the long-term. If this seems daunting, then be assured you are not alone. During rehab, you get to interact with others who are going through the same thing as you. Your friends and family will also be there with you throughout the entire journey.
How to Tell If a Loved One Should Go to Rehab
How do you know if your loved one is struggling with alcohol and drug abuse or addiction? There are several signs to look for, such as:
- Withdrawal from social activities they used to enjoy
- Continued use of drugs despite being fully aware of the negative consequences
- Perpetually using drugs to ensure withdrawal symptoms don’t kick in
- More of the same drug is needed to reach the same high
- Being pre-occupied with maintaining a supply of the drug or alcohol

Types of Treatment Programs at Beacon House
Beacon House offers full spectrum substance abuse treatment programs for both men and women based on their individual needs as assessed through thorough evaluations during admission.
All treatment plans are tailored to the unique needs of an individual, the severity of addiction and the presence of concurrent mental health disorders. Here is a look at the types of treatment we can provide.
1. Medical Detox
Depending on the type of addiction, you may have to go through a detox program. Our detox programs involve 24-hour monitoring of the withdrawal process to ensure the body rids itself of toxins to help you heal from chemical dependency.
2. Residential Detox
We work with several healthcare providers who assess the unique needs of every individual. Once you are cleared, you’ll proceed to a residential setting where you’re treated and put under the care of staff who are available 24/7.
3. Residential Treatment
After you are cleared and your withdrawal symptoms stabilized, you’ll proceed to residential treatment, which is also known as inpatient treatment. In residential treatment, clients are closely monitored by our staff 24/7.
4. Structured Treatment
We ensure that clients in our residential programs actively take part in treatment by attending individual and group sessions as well as 12-step meetings. Aside from structured treatment, we also ensure clients with concurrent mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder and other trauma conditions take part in our integrated treatment.
5. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Our partial hospitalization program provides addiction treatment for a minimum number of hours every day at least five days every week. You’ll take part in individualized treatment including regular individual and group therapy according to your needs.
6. Experiential Treatment
You get to interact with the surrounding community when you attend 12-step meetings while learning to create new experiences. The main goal of experiential treatment is to help you step away from residential 24-hour supervision and engage in real-life fun events in the nearby community.
