Rich History with a Commitment to
Treatment Advances and Technology:
Beacon House is a world-class addiction treatment facility with
cutting edge solutions. The Beacon House is sponsoring and funding a
center for advancement of innovate treatment solutions and is
committed to bringing the world’s innovative thinkers to the
Monterey Peninsula to share the latest advances in research and
medical science in this evolving field of addiction treatment.
The
Beacon House was the first alcoholism and addiction center to open
in the western states. We opened as a not-for profit center by
colleagues of Marty Mann, the first sober woman in AA, and founder
of the National Counsel on Alcoholism (now the NCADD). Our
commitment is to the core values of treating the human spirit with
dignity, using the latest research and methods that support the 12
step model of recovery, in an affordable environment. The Beacon
House offers a light that guides our residents to recovery.
The Beacon House is a 16-bed residential addiction treatment
facility. Located in Pacific Grove steps away from the beautiful
Monterey Bay coastal waters and at the foot of the famous 17-mile
drive of Pebble Beach, it occupies a historic Victorian style
Mansion. But we are not just one more beautiful center; Beacon House
is accredited by CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation
Facilities) for both medical detoxification and residential
programs. Our accreditation is a part of our commitment, by allowing
professionals to examine what and how we at Beacon House care for
our residents.
Diagnostic Accuracy and Individual
Treatment:
We
at Beacon House believe that the disease of alcoholism and addiction
takes a terrible toll on our residents physically, emotionally,
psychologically and spiritually. Because the impact is profound, our
treatment response is individually designed to meet the range of
needs for each resident. We understand the key to recovery lies with
providing a solid foundation of a healthy being to face the
challenges of recovery.
Using our highly trained professionals we administer unique
diagnostic neuroscience analysis within the first 48 hours of
admission to Beacon House. This, along with a thorough clinical
assessment and medical evaluation provides a clear diagnostic map
assisting the treatment team to tailor services and reach every
patient individually based on their own distinct clinical diagnostic
needs and learning process.
Our residents quickly settle into a structured daily routine where
they participate in a variety of group therapies, individual
therapies, clinical neuro/bio feedback, educational didactics,
experiential therapies, 12-step work, and individualized therapeutic
services in both one-on-one sessions and small group settings
tailored to meet their needs. The therapeutic techniques
incorporated include cognitive, dialectical behavioral and
acceptance commitment therapy with individual focus on the method
that works best for each resident.
There is qualified staff supervision on site 24 hours a day. Beacon
House clinical staff is composed of state of the art professionals
including psychologists, licensed therapists as well as certified
addiction recovery counselors. The detoxification component includes
supervision by nursing and consultation by a family practice
physician trained in addiction, allowing for safe and supervised
medication management and titration focused on addiction-free
results.
The clinical staff is highly trained in areas specific to addiction
disorders as well as potential co-occurring behavioral disorders
such as dual diagnosis, eating disorders and emotional trauma. The
team has extensive training on and incorporates into treatment the
impact of addiction on the brain, gender specific issues in
addiction, relapse prevention and addiction-free life skills. There
is a strong treatment component focusing on the very important
aspect of relapse intervention and prevention as well as family
education and counseling.
Beacon House provides medically supervised sub-acute detoxification
and inpatient residential addiction treatment on site. Other
services we offer include intensive outpatient programming, extended
length of stay options, as well as therapeutic aftercare groups.
Flawless Treatment Execution in the 12
Step Traditions:
Most importantly, each and every service modality and technique
reflects and focuses on the goal of recovery from alcohol and other
drug abuse. Our clinicians are trained to incorporate the 12-steps
of recovery into these various modalities and therapeutic
techniques.
Every bit as important as the therapeutic services we offer, are the
12step meetings our residents go to each night. Our residents are
fully exposed to the 12 step meetings that become a building block
of their personal recovery.
Prevention Technology for Relapse:
For our local residents, they build their recovery foundation where
they will live their recovery. For our out of area residents, we
work closely with therapeutic and support services in their
hometown. Ensuring a careful transition and access to the on-line
aftercare support from Beacon House. We know at Beacon House, that
the time after our resident’s discharge is the true beginning of
recovery. We are committed to be there for our residents during
treatment and after discharge. This is the time the real challenges
of recovery take place. We have developed an interactive on-line
after care program that allows us to provide support and
intervention when things get off course, making recommendations to
help the Beacon House alumni stay on the 12 step course of recovery.
Affordable:
As a not-for-profit center, Beacon House offers excellent client to
staff ratio. Our mission is to provide the most effective treatment
at affordable prices. Beacon House is committed to providing the
latest treatment innovations that are proven effective coupled with
the strongest fundamentals of 12 step principles in the industry.
Our focus is on the patient, not a profit thus providing
extraordinary treatment while reinvesting capital in continual
advances in innovative treatment and quality of care.
Other
The
Beacon House commitment extends to the families who have suffered
with their loved one. Our family program incorporates multi-family
groups, individual family therapy and didactic education. This
allows the family not only to learn about the addictive illness and
how to support their loved one, but also to begin the healing
process for themselves. Addiction affects the family and friends,
not just the patient. Beacon House assures that the family is
introduced to a program of recovery as well.
We at Beacon House recognize the importance of developing a good
nutritional plan to support recovery. We have a state of the art
chef serving nutritious meals that also support the recovery process
through health and healing. This is a significant component of the
Beacon House philosophy of the importance of addressing the “whole”
person.
In addition, Beacon House incorporates treatment services that
emphasize day-to-day living skills allowing residents to learn or
relearn how to live successfully drug and alcohol free. These
include areas such as nutritional counseling, exercise and physical
health activity and plans. Stress reduction and relaxation
techniques such as meditation and yoga are part of the daily and
nightly routine. Spiritual discovery and self-awareness focused on
finding meaning through a life of sobriety are held on the beautiful
coastal beaches through walks and hikes in natural settings.
Some of the additional experiential and expressive therapies
utilized include art therapy and a variety of therapeutic outings.
Beacon House has specialty providers who are trained in these
various areas and understand the importance of incorporating the
feelings discovered and lessons learned into the recovery model.
That is why we say, people come to the Beacon House “And
Start Living Again”
